Thumbs down 95 Grand Am Question???

Well my wife just called me telling me that the car is bad off again...telling me that the speed is constantly fluctuating between 20-30mph and back to the true speed. and the weird thing is that she is NOT depressing the gas and the cruise is NOT set but yet the car keeps goin...what are the problems? im thinking along the lines of a tranny prob. possibly the governor or input/output speed sensor...a little bit of intel would be great fellas. thanks

Re: 95 Grand Am BIG PROBLEM!

90% its a stuck IAC valve, 5% its a bad TPS, the other 5% is vacuum leak/fuel pressure reg or intake leak

Re: 95 Grand Am BIG PROBLEM!

Fab, Richtazz went right where I was going to go, I was thinking along the lines of a vac. issue. You may be right about the linkage but I would think the a sticky linkage would have caused another issue at start up.

Good luck,
Dan

Re: 95 Grand Am BIG PROBLEM!

Speaking of stuck valves, could it possibly also be related to a stuck open EGR valve? I'm not sure if that would cause it, but it might be worth pulling off and checking / cleaning.
