How do I remove the oil cooling lines from the radiator?
Hello,
I have a 1999 4.3L blazer and need to replace the oil coolling lines as they have a leak at one of the crimp connections. How do I remove the tubing connector at the radiator? It looks like it has some sort of retainer in it. I just want to check before I try to do it the wrong way and tear it up. |

There is no reason to unscrew the fitting from the radiator. Just pull the little metal clip off and the line will slip right out of the fitting. The new lines should come with new clips. Install in reverse.

One more thing... in case you haven't noticed yet, removing the airbox will make swapping out the lines much easier.

Thanks for the info. The new line didn't come with clips, or the guy just didn't know to give them to me. I guess I'll try not the mess the old ones up.

There called JESUS Clips cause when you break them or they fall off and you loose them you go JESUS! lol Thats what we always call them. Yeah just be careful. Wish i could tell you an easy way to get them off. there might be a tool specially designed for them, havent seen it yet thought. have fun.

Re: How do I remove the oil cooling lines from the radiator?
If the lines are only sweating a drop every once in a while, I wouldn't replace them yet.
Mine have been leaking for 100,000 miles now and nothing ever has happened. People even get the link AFTER installing the new ones.

Re: How do I remove the oil cooling lines from the radiator?
a slow leak means there is a bad crimp and it could blow off at any time and by the time you realise the line blew youre engine is gone

Re: Re: How do I remove the oil cooling lines from the radiator?
I'd second what Blazer LT says. I have original oil cooling lines at 125k. They sweat a little but no noticeable loss of oil. Make your decision by whether or not you are losing oil, not by how oily the lines look.
