Talking Infinity Success Story

I'm the proud owner of a '01 GTZ, and wanted to pass on a mighty victory over factory stereos.

While I loved my Infinity CD deck, after 60K miles I came to realize:
A) I wanted to play MP3s
B) The bastard was skipin'

So I opted for a Sony CDX-M8805X (identical to the CDX-M8800)

Unfortunately, I quickly discovered that, despite a Crutchfield wiring harness, my brand-new deck produced no sound. Alas, all audio goes to the 210W amp under the passenger seat via a DIN cable, not the standard audio cable supplying power/illumination/etc. Crutchield told me to bypass the amp and wire the speakers directly.

Lose a 210W amp and my beloved center channel?! No freakin' way!

As luck would have it, MITAH makes a kit (UPC 609098013031) to transform the five-pin-DIN (aka old-school AT keyboard cable) to a front-rear RCA (2 pair) w/ remote amp (blue).

After a little soldering, I tried the most worthless CD-RW (COMPUSA, 650MB, 2X) and the Sony sang.

In summary, you don't have to throw away your kick-ass 210W Infinity amp in your Galant/Eclipse to get bitchin' MP3s pumpin'.
