Aftermarket Clutches (ACT)
I have a 96 jetta and have about 110k on it and the clutch is slipping ocassionally while acclerating. I have been shopping around for a new clutch and am debating on an aftermarket semi racing or stock. My dad brought up the point that the semi racing may make the smooth shifting of the jetta a lot jerkier and not as good. I plan on buying a stage 1 ACT street performance clutch and I am wondering if anyone has one and knows what it's like. I know there is about 60% more clamping power which would be nice. The other thing that my dad brought up is this may be hard on other parts. Any insight on any of this would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Well I have purchased the clutch and am currently getting it installed so I will let you all know how it works.

The clutch is absolutely amazing. It has so much more clamping power than the stock clutch yet it still retains the smooth shifting of the car. I am throughly impressed with this kit.

Re: Aftermarket Clutches (ACT)
How much trouble was it to install a clutch in your '96 Jetta. My '96 needs one I have a clutch kit and a Haynes manual, just wondering if this is something I should attempt at home???????
