In all seriousness, why...

Why is it that when we hear of someone else doing something incredibly stupid, we feel really scared for them, and get all emotional (I am talking about the other person being someone you really care for) and blow it all out of proportion; but when we do something just as stupid and equally immoral, we tend to just think "dang, that was stupid" and worry about it little more. We minimize our own mistakes and worry ourselves to death over other's mistakes. Why? Should we not care more for ourselves? Or is it just me? I get so stressed out when a friend does something regretable, but then when I do something like that, I just can't see where its so bad. This has been bothering me for a while. What do you all think? I can't seem to come up with a good answer.

also what makes us guys worry more about girls than other guys? Do you girls worry more about us guys then you do other girls?

So weighty on my mind...

I'm thinking this pattern you have pointed out here is basically just a bi-product of human nature. I will agree with you, that this is a phenomena that I too have encountered. I'm thinking that this may be a facet of concerning ourselves over the things which we care about the outcomes of, but have no control over. A mistake we happen to make is something we can dismiss as being a isolated act of foolishness - when someone we care about does something along the same lines, we are not reassured with the same "I'm not going to do that again" knowledge. The fact that they did something so dumb is cause for anxiety. That's my theory.

not to diminish the rest of your post (which was good btw) but this line made alot of sense. Control. We can control ourselves (or at least we think we can) but we cannot control others. I think you are right in saying this. We are scared most of things we do not understand or cannot control. Its a very good point, and one I hadn't thought about. Interesting....

any more?

Thanks. I'll mull over it a bit more, see if I can make some more sense of it, and I'll report back if I can come up with anything else.
