Thumbs up i want/need a geo

well guys this question gets really old in my usual section. so about how much is it to find a nice, as far as mechanical condition, good mileage metro?

right now i own 2 mazda rx-7`s, and im stuck driving my 93 around for work. yeah thats a nice car and i cant keep up putting 130 miles on it every week. plus not great gas mileage...its a rare car, not something for going to work x___x

and i do very much like metros, not just for gas...hehe.

I have never paid more that 500 bucks for any of my geos/swifts.

It all depends on what you are prepared to live with.

I purchased my first one as a disposable car at 140K miles four years ago. I commute and I now have 241K miles on it.

I put a crate motor in shortly after I bought it because it burned a valve. My total investment is about 1000 dollars. 500 for car and 500 for motor.

Lately I have been getting them for around 250 to 300 dollars.

You definitely have to be able to do the initial work yourself.

I paid $400 for my 92 ragtop last July it was kind of beat up and rusty, I fixed some stuff and patched up some rust holes, it passed PA inspection. However, some of the plastic pieces that are parts of the convertible frame and such are now breaking, te top is beat, it's time for another one. Then I'll keep this one for parts. It now has 105K on it and runs fine. Body is going fast though.

You definitely need some mechanical aptitude to save money on these bad boys.

Oh and if anybody within 100 miles of Reading, PA is selling an old Metro ragtop, shoot me an e-mail.

Maybe this is based on where you live. In my experience, you can expect to pay at least $500 for ANY running vehicle and $700 for a mechanically sound one.
A nice Metro around here will probably cost around $900-1500 regardless of the year or condition, and that figure seems to be consistant with the prices on sites like autotrader and cars.com
Take into account the cost of gas and that many people recently got thier tax return money and the prices of these cars have gotten a little higher than normal here.
