idle problem

well i used to own a 1995 escort LX (great car) anyway, i guess i kinda need to know the year model BUT if it is a 1995 or 94-96,

what i did what this......under the hood you will find near the center of the engine on the right side of the valve cover a "loop" which has a cable in it..this is your throttle cable. next to this cable (left or right i dont remember ) you should see a screw in a piece of metal which can be screwed up or down to manually adjust your idle. BUT if it is totally stripped out like mine was then you might try this..............

To stop this cable (loop) when the gas is not pressed there is a small metal platform....i simply superglued 1 or 2 pennies together and glued then to the platform which cause the engine to idle slightly higher in idle (and in gear) be careful not to put to many (may need to "eyeball" it a few times and pl;ay with it) ALSO this could be bad for your transmission if your car is an AUTOMATIC if the idle is set to high..(over 1.5 RPMs)
