Tamiya's MP4/6 - what aftermarket addons to consider?

A dream come true, I've finally been able to get my hands on a genuine Tamiya MP4/6...

I've build a few McLaren in 1/20 scale so I hope I'm up for the task. In the mean time I'm trying to find as much references as possible. One of the things I'm interested to know (from people who actually build the mp 4/6) what aftermarket Items I should think of acquiring - whithout going broke in the process

Kind Regards,

Henk

OK, the only sets you HAVE to get are the Perfect Parts super detail and brake detail set.

Ron at Racing Miniatures is currently having these sets remade although the super detail set is taking some time. I luckily managed to acquire one a while back from a friend and will be starting this build real soon. I missed out on the first run of brake sets but have received this from Ron about three months ago so he definitely has these.

As well as this there are many other bits and pieces, S27 Marlboro decals are a must as well as a lot of carbon fibre decal. Below is a link to the ultimate build of this kit by our very own Bil Atridge, If mine looks half as good as this I'll be happy!!! Bil also wrote out a a full build spec with everything he used, you'd better stock up on floppy discs and coke!!!!!!! (Cans that is!!!)

Also, a link to the Racing Miniatures site.

Hope this helps...

Re: Tamiya's MP4/6 - what aftermarket addons to consider?

Thanks guys, even though I was allready a bit worried that you would steer me towards the perfect parts

Seriously, I've been drooling all over the pictures of Bil's MP4/6... Even had a hard time convincing a fellow F1 enthusiast that it was a model and not the real thing!

I look forward to the challenge - though I must admit that get nervous just thinking about attempting the paint job

Thanks for your offer to help Bil! I appreciate it and will certainly call on it.

Kind Regards,

Henk

I have just checked out that link to Bill's build and WOW! This is quite simply the cleanest, precise, most realistic build I have ever set eyes on! Simply heart-stopping! Sorry, but I just had to say it!!!
