Stuck power window (2000 Blazer 2 door)

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer 2 door, 4 wheel drive. My driver's side power window only works intermittently. I've put a multimeter on the switch, and that seems to be good, and when I have the motor attached, it draws a lot of current (more than the working passenger side window). That makes me think it is jammed somehow. I don't know much about window mechanisms (I have the Haynes manual, and it doesn't really address this).
Is there a common way for these to get jammed? Does this still sound like the switch despite my funny meter measurements? A replacement switch is going to cost $60, so it isn't something I just want to try and see.
Summer is here, and I the AC KILLS my mileage, so I prefer to use the window. Help!

I have the same problem with my '98 2 door blazer! One day it just would not go down. I have tried to replace the power window modulator for the drivers side ($60), but that was not the problem. Any other suggestions?

If the motor is drawing excessive current in both directions, it's a bad motor. If it's only in one direction, it's a short in the wiring between the motor and switch. The excessive current can cause the internal circuit breaker to blow.
