Question Touch up Paint

I'm trying to get touch up paint for my fathers G/a since he has a few small rust spots that i want to take care of before it becomes to late. My problem is the dealer can't find the paint code in thier system, even to special order it they can't find it... The paint charts in pepboys, etc, don't show that color exsisting either. Does anyone know of any places or websites i can try to order it from??

You can get your car color scanned and get a spray bomb of that color mixed.

Where I work (NAPA), we have a CMAX division that takes care of all paint/body work supplies. It usually costs about 25-30 CND + tax for a spray bomb.

You can try other aftermarket paint suppliers to see if they can scan/mix you the color.

Good Luck

Re: Touch up Paint

Your paint code should be listed on the little information panel on the drivers door jamb. If it is not there it should be listed on a info panel on the firewall. The panel lists the manufacture date and tire pressure and things like that it is usually a sticker.

Hope this helps.

thanks guys, I did finally found the paint on that web site, It turns out that the color wasn't offered for Pontiac's but is a GM color, that's why i had such a hard time finding it.

Re: Touch up Paint

A little hint for what it's worth, if you are using the small thin bottle of touch up, instead of using the brush that is attached to the cap I have always used a paper match, I tear it from the book and use the torn end...dip it into the paint and then touch up the paint chip. works so much better than the brush that is included.

Hope it helps!

That's not a bad Idea hoags. Normally for the really small chips i use a toothpick, and just keep dabbing paint in until it fills up just right. The painting I'm gonna be doing for my father car is a bit more extensive though, Sanding/grinding, priming, then painting, so i need to do some spray painting... Which is always time consuming with masking, and spraying evenly... etc.

Re: Touch up Paint

And it's always a pain in the butt to blend!!!

I hope it all works out. I've never painted but I have done enough prep work, I hope I don't have to in the future.

Good luck!!!!
