Finished: WRX Group N, Michael Guest

Here a few photos of the Winflied liveried Group N WRX, run by Uchiyama Motorsport in the 1999 Rally Catalunya, and driven by the Australian Michael Guest.

The base kit was Hasegawa's RAC/Monte kit, with Studio 27 decals. Unfortunately the decals we stored for some time out of their original packaging, and we adhered to the protective paper supplied with Studio 27 decal sheets. Upon removal, residual paper was left on the decals, and of course mainly on the larger ones! Also, the decals were very rigid, and it was quite difficult to get them to conform over the WRX's curves, despite copious quantities of decals solution. Paint is Tamiya's Bright Red over white primer, and matches the colour of reference photos nicely.

Outdoor shots to follow soon - hopefully!

Grant.

Ditto. Nice collection of Subies!

But c'mon 2.2 and others...please take the time to read the writeups that people give and please try to find the answer to your question with the original writeup! Everyone seems to look at the pictures and ignore the rest. It's an epidemic on A/F. It takes time to present the model, both with photos and detailed writeups. He very clearly said he used Studio 27 decals in the very first sentence of the description .

Looks great Pots! Catalunya is a tarmac event though...
I heard Michael Guest is going to be back rallying with the prototype ARC Focus sometime soon.

ok, next time i will, forgive me with my poor memory and small, inadequate brain, i am one of those people who, besides not reading it all, starts one project without finishing the last. (oops i went a bit off-topic) but long story short.......sorry, wont happen again.

if you wondered why i replied it when it was addressed to 2.2 its beacuse i have 2 accounts, one computer refuses to log on 2.2, so i have to use this account

Hi all, thanks for the positive response.

Phil, regarding the tarmac issue, I know the car is riding too high, but I am still completely clueless as to how to lower suspension . Even though I have read many posts on the subject, including your own lowering of the Safari Impreza, it still does not make sense - I cannot work out how you then locate the suspension arms that hold in the wheel assembly. I must be dense! And I am not prepared to risk older, harder to find kits in case I mess up. I was actually going to put a set of six-spoke Speedlines on, but some photos of Michael's car from the Catalunya rally show it with the eight-spoke wheels that are on the model - maybe something to do with the car being Group N.

I did read somewhere about Ford and Michael looking at entering the prototpye class of the ARC. Do you, or anyone, know of any further news?

Lambophilia, the rims on the Possum Bourne Group N Impreza are from a Hasegawa gravel-spec Lancia Delta kit. Not 100% right, but about the closest match I could think of. There is a thread about this car somewhere.

Cheers,
Grant.
