primer through the airbrush?

Is there such thing as primer that one can spray through an airbrush?

Has anyone decanted it and used it in an airbrush? What kind do you use , and what do you thin it with?

Re: primer through the airbrush?

For sure there is, that is how I always apply it, much more efficient use of the primer that way. I mostly use GSI Creos Mr Surfacer 1000. There are lots of other brands, Finisher's, Modellers, even Alclad make a primer for airbrushing. Tamiya has recently released a bottle of primer as well. I'm sure there are others you could find at an automotive paint outlet. Of course it will depend on what type of paint the primer is as to what thinner you will need to use. All of the above are lacquers, so any cheap automotive lacquer thinner will do the job.

RallyRaider gave the whole answer but allow me to recommend Vallejo's primer from the Model-Air lineup Vallejo carry, ofcourse there's white & gray & the quality is stunning!

Re: primer through the airbrush?

For acrylics, Testors has a couple primers in their Acryl line, and they go down fairly well.

Interesting. I've seen these advertised and wondered.

How's the quality/$$ comparison to eg. the Tamiya white and grey aerosols that I use?
