cd player error 20

I just bought a '99 grand am gt and the cd player has an error 20 (Internal eye focus problem) when a cd is inserted. The dealer tried to clean it with a disc cleaner but was unsuccessful. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Re: cd player error 20

well, I'd try to run a cd cleaner in it again. If that doesn't help out, then most likely the lens is gone, sigh. One other slight possible is the pickup wiring has come loose, so the lens can't "read" the signals, that means pulling the unit out and having it looked at by a good stereo repair shop.
