lifting or lowering a truck?

i have a 2002 silvy and it is a 2wd. but i want it to sit level like a 4wd. what can i do? i would rather lift the front. i have 3 1/2 inches in the front and 5 1/2 inches in the rear for a gap between tires and fenders. what is the best way to do this and how much will it cost? up 2 in the front or down 2 in the back?

The less expensive route would be a 2" drop at the back. This would simply require putting in a longer aftermarket spring shackle on each side. Most quality lift/lowering kits for the front end involve rather expensive front spindles, and paying someone to install them. You might get by with a set of spring spacers on the front, but I don't think you'd care for the look with the A arms stretched down 2 more inches. If you don't carry a heavy load very often, I'd go with the rear drop.

Yea, a 2" drop shackle in the rear is the quickest and cheapest to do. To do the front I would recommend doing spindles, but thats just me. a set of 2" lift springs can be had pretty cheaply.

Ask and ye shall receive. There is a phone number and a link at this site. Couldn't find a price, but it'll get you started. I think with the 22's you'll look better dropped than lifted. But I do miss the Black Maxx's.

Here's some:

~$80, not too bad. Would doing a 2" drop in the rear make a noticeable difference in how the truck handles?

I wouldn't think it would affect handling, except possibly to make it a little better through the curves, due to a lower center of gravity. The biggest thing I think you would notice is the loss of up travel on the springs, because you have moved them that much closer to the bump stops. If you don't drive on very rough roads, you'll probably not notice any difference at all.

It'll ride fine. Nothing to worry about. Definately lower the rear it will look far better with the wheels and tire combo.

Thumbs up Lookin Good!!

I also have a 02 Silvy that im wanting to drop a few inches 2 front and 4 rear and put some rims on....the rims on your truck are 22's? Do they fill the fender well better than a set of 20's? Let me know thanks!

ya they are 22's, but i had to get a heat gun and get the inner fender liners pushed back a 1inch or so to keep them from rubbing . and if i hit really big bumps now and then i can get the front tires to hit the underside of the fender, but lower pro tires would be better. i haave 305 45 i think. i did a 2 inch rear drop and thats it and they fit well.
