1996 blazer draining battery

electrical charging has been check and working great and battery is new. so something in my blazer is draining my battery. is there a way to check what is draining this at home what tools might i need to do this myself. or does it need to be taken to a mechanic.

Re: 1996 blazer draining battery

put a multimeter on the battery and monitor the current being drawn.

Then remove one fuse at a time and see if it drops.

Once you find the circuit draining it, you can track it down.

BTW, did you charge the battery up?

Your alternator will not do that.

that is funny you mention that charging it. i charged it last nite and am going to try to track it down today. no i havent charged it before i just jumped it and drove it for awhile. and it started fine for a couple of days and then it would go down. sometimes this blazer sits for a few days at a time without being drove thats when the battery goes down.

after charging overnight started fine, might have just found the problem with the drain of battery by accident. was looking for cash over the visors and found the passenger side mirror under the visor was broke and the light might have been on it. the lid might not have been touching the shut off button.. i will kill my wife if that was it. she could of at least told me the lid broke and i would have known to fix it because of the light on it. ))
