Screeching

I have a 1995 Contour. When I drive and get 10 - 12 miles into a trip, there is a loud screeching sound when I slow down and when stopped at lights. If I shake the wheel a little the sound will go away but only for a few seconds. The longer I get into a trip the louder it becomes. Any idea on what may be causing this? Someone told me if may be the power steering pump, but they are not exactly a car expert.

Re: Screeching

then you might be on the right route, could be the power steering pump.

Re: Re: Re: Screeching

Thanks. Do you happen to have any idea how difficult that is to replace on your own.
