I Hate The Police!!

Is anyone out there familiar with police statutes? I am wanting to know if one exists. I bought a car and had a few problems with the sales tax thing. So I havent had a chance to change the plates over. Well anyway the other night I was driving home from work, and a cop pulled behind me. Well he ran my plates and found that they didnt match my car. So he pulled me over. After a few tickets he let me drive my car home. He told me that the only reason that he stopped me was because of the plates. I was under the impression that the police are not allowed to run your plates, unless you have done something, am I wrong? I didn't know if anyone else had encountered a problem such as this and if so what they did about it. Or is there a statute out there? I live in Indiana if that matters. Thank you.

Call a lawyer. Try to sound like you're interested in their services and they'll pretty much tell you if you have a case or not.

If you didnt have your plates changed over in X ammount of time then yes you can get a ticket for it, a friend of mine got one yesterday. I dont think the ticket will get dropped if it has been over that ammount of time.

Cops can run plates as they please. I constantly have cops show up behind me, on my ass and stay with me for a few minutes, then dart off in the other direction. They run my plates b/c they think my truck could be someone that is a problem, when they see my record they find no need to waste their time.

yeah the police are gay, fuck tha police lol good song, what i always do is when a cop tails me closely and runs my plates i tap on the brakes and watch him get close and hit his brakes, funny thing to do

1. You shouldn't be driving a car that doesn't have all the proper paperwork. What fi it gets stolen?
2. You shouldn't be complaining about a cop doing his/her job because you're too lasy to get things done right

Cops can your plates as they please. Why do you think they're in plain sight? Bet you didn't know that they can also pull you over for "probable cause"? Meaning, if you look high or too young, etc, they can pull you over. Sucks, but don't do stupid shit.

Along with Jason's point, The police run plates constantly on Vehicles, the majority of the time they are looking for warrants, prior offenses, etc.. They also run your plates to get background info if you commit a traffic violation, they want to know if you have a criminal background to warn them to use extreme caution before they approach your car. Calling the Police officers "Pigs" and saying they are "Gay" is out of line!
Stop breaking the law and getting a hair across your ass when you don't get away with it..

Cops can run a plate whenever the want. There are no restrictions on that. Get a police scanner and you can listen to all the names, type of car and the address that the plate is registered to.

The police are doing their job. If you have everything in order, you have nothing to worry about. Oh by the way if someone decides to still your car don't call the police...Call Illegal Eagle I'm sure he'll help you out.
