Question New Rotors 02 Sportrac 2wd

Hello All! I am in need of changing my front rotors on my 2002 Sport trac 2wd and I was wondering if anyone has done this and can tell me what I need to do to take off the rotor after I have the caliper and caliper braket off the truck?

Re: New Rotors 02 Sportrac 2wd

Sure you can't get them machined. I just did my 2002xls.
To take them off ,
1) remove wheel
2) remove the bolts holding calipers into caliper bracket
3) remove 2 bolts holding caliper bracket
4) pop the washer off of the wheel studs and pull rotor free.
If the rotor is siezed use a rubber mallet to free it.
I would definately try to machine them first before getting new ones. It cost me $10 a rotor to get them machined when you take them off and bring them in. I went to R&S Strauss.
Anyways for my 2002 xls the Torque Specs for the bolt are as follows. I don't know how much of a difference it would be on a sport trac.
Caliper bracket bolts 83 Foot Pounds
Caliper to brackets 24 Foot Pounds
Lugs were 100 Foot Pounds

If you go ahead and do replace them, make sure you torque your lugs correctly. If your lugs are too tight you will end up warping your new rotors.
That is what happened to me. Guess the shop I used to replace my rotor just impact the hell out of everything.
