I just got a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee(Laredo) yesterday. Everything on it is great, except for some reason neither passenger side windows work. The drivers side windows work fine. I would think it was a motor in one of them, but it's both of them, which leads me to believe it's something electrical. Trouble is, I have no idea where to start looking to check. Anyone know what could cause this problem for both passenger side door windows? (it's a four door) Thanks for any replies.
-Jeff [edit] - The power locks work for both doors. It's just the windows, if that helps. |

Re: Passenger Side Power Windows :[
You can try this, I had a problem where the pass side light stayed on, and the pass side windows wouldnt work and the keyless entry wouldn't work. So I checked all the fuses that applied, then I tried the negative battery cable, I unhooked it for 20 sec or so and let the jeep reset itself. Wha-la everything came back and worked. Give it a shot.

If you check the harness that runs from the body to the door,I'll bet you find a broken wire.

Re: Passenger Side Power Windows :[
There is a module in the right froont door that involves both right side doors. It could be bad. The fuse could be bad. And the module ties into the body computer. If you carry it somewhere thay can hook with scanner and check the body computer.

How do I know if the wire is broken? I peeled back the rubber shield from around the wires and all of them just look... well.. like normal wires. Like nothing's wrong. Do I need a tool to check them?

The best way to check is to look at each one and pull gently on it.It's hard to find the other end without a scematic. The broken wire on mine was obvious and some of them had bare spots also. Check both doors.
