Wheel WONT come off?

Alright, now that my civic is back i thought it was about time to get rid of the steelies and put on my Sinkos. I start with the drivers side front tire. Break the lugs loose a little, jack it up till the tires a little off the ground, take off all the lugs and I thought the rest would be a breeze. Alright, one would think the tire would come off now, one pull...two pull...10 pulls this and that way, the wheel doesnt even budge, wtf?
I call my friend, he says kick the tire a little bit since for civics they usually are very snug for some reason, alright, so i give it a few good boots, try it again, no dice.

Am I doing something wrong?

Oh yeah, car is a 94 honda civic DX coupe, and I know at least the fronts should have come off before, it just had a engine swap done to it and I know those wheels have to come off to do so.

Put it on jack stands and really give it a good kick. Sometimes the hub will seize to the back of the wheel from water and dirt getting behind there.

Yup kick that sonabitch. Just had my friend help me change over to my summer tires yesterday (he's got a compressor and a good jack, unlike me), and we had to kick 2 tires. Happens on lost of cars.

Re: Re: Wheel WONT come off?

Put one lugnut partially on so the tire doesn't go flying.

When two different types of metals touch, plus rain, dirt, salt, etc. they corrode.

Before you install the other wheels apply some grease to the hub, this way it wont stick.

if it doesnt come off when you kick it; use a sledge hammer; had to do that to my sister's accord when her tires popped.

Id make sure you leave a one lug nut on there barely threaded on. Cuase those tired can come flying out when you hit them sometimes.

what a waste of a post... and now my wonferful contribution..

I wouldnt use a sledge hammer, that could damage the rim, i brass hammer or a big rubber mallet sould do the job.

Thats true you can damage the rim; so be careful if you use a sledge hammer(if possible, hit the tire instead of the actual rim). Where i took autotech and lots of people i know that went to tech school(mainly UTI) use sledge hammers.

Re: Wheel WONT come off?

thats why i use a brass hammer, you dont lose as much energy as a rubber one, and the brass will bend before your rim will
