Re: bad smell
Sounds like the condensation drain is plugged up. It's on the bottom of the evaporator box on the passenger side in the engine compartment. It's pretty hard to get to and impossible to see unless you use a mirror from the top side. I used a plastic wire tie on mine last time to open it back up. As far as getting rid of the smell I can't help you on that. Christmas tree air freshener?

I have seen a product that you spray into the ac/heater core area that is some type of foam. It is suppose to kill the bad smells. I have never used it or seen it used. I think you would spray it in and let it sit for a time. It is suppose to evraporate and drain off I think.
I did a google search and could not find what I thought it was but here is a link to something that sounded close. http://www.autogeek.net/cleanaircombo.html Hope this helps, Seems like the dealer had something like this too. Best of luck. Larry

Re: bad smell
My buddy just bought a 99 Duelie and he wasn't getting hardly any air out of his vents so he took the evap/heater core housing apart and it was totaly full of leaves, mud, bugs and assorted other "stuff". He hosed it out and cleaned them off good and no smell with great air flow.

I just came across some service specials from my dealer.
"GM Allergy Fighter/A/c Evaporator Service: $99.95 +tax till 05/31/2005 If you suffer from Oklahoma allergies, you need this service! Our Technician will install an A/C evaporator cleaner to quickly remove allergy causing bacterria, mold, spores and fungi, foul odors, road grime, nichotine oils and debris that accumulate in your car's a/c evaporator. Restores efficiency and freshens interior air." City Chevrolet 405-947-8711 I bet any dealer can do this, but if you have questions give them a call. They have been good to me over the years, I have never used this A/C service so I do not know how good it really is....Best of luck.
