a moment of silence please
after 3 years of "driving" i blew up my ka sunday night. it took 15 mins of "drifting" two nights ago to break it. i found this sweet church parking lot that actually made some good turns and was large enough to get higher than 20mph, and if i screwed up plenty of room. i say "drifting" because obviously i'm not a drifter. but i did hit some turns at around 50mph and couple turns into turns so i don't suck that bad. anyway, i was in the church parking lot for about 15mins then a car pulled in and my friend was like umm let's bail so i left the lot because i'd rather not get in trouble and on the way home my oil light started flashing. i was like ok not sure why my oil be getting low (since i have to check it regularly due to it eats oil). everything was fine and it started up fine when i left, but continuing my way home every time i came to a stop it would stall. it progressly got worse until the point it started making a horrible knocking sound of metal on metal. i was like shit. since my brother is my tuner/builder i called him and he told me to park my car and he would come check it out. after i stopped that time it wouldn't turn over and made the motor look like it was trying to flip out of the car. he says i bent my rods and froze my back cylinder. i called AAA and had them tow my car to my brother's shop until this weekend when we should be able to start the swap. it should be done this weekend if everything goes smooth. thought i'd share my story, and have a moment a silence for the KA.

that sucks...
That sucks... Why was it eating oil so bad? By the sounds of it the last or more then one of the cylinders had bad rings. A couple 100 dollars could have saved this engine I think.

well when i first got it i put 500$ into it to fix the chain and couple inner parts. when we got a look inside the motor then we knew it was going to go, and i was planning on swapping anyway so we decided to just let it go. we've been expecting it actually. i had an s14 sr20 set, but i wanted the clip so my bro sold the s14 motor and we should be going down to pick out my clip here soon. might be tomorrow. though i could do a rb25det or vg30dett they have each of those clips sitting in their shop right now, but i really think i am going s13 blacktop. i am planning on running all stock to get a baseline. then planning on building from there. luckily for me my brother and their shop are kind enough to do everything for me at thier cost if i help of course with the swap, and help them when they need it with computers.

Re: a moment of silence please
NEWS FLASH: Engines require oil for lubrication, so when your oils light comes on and it starts to knock, it is usually a good idea to find a gas station and hydrate it with oil (after making sure it was low). Sorry about your KA though, but who cares, your getting an SR. Ill trade you if you would rather have the KA.

Re: a moment of silence please
Teh oil light is not an oil level indicator. It is an indicator that oil pressure has dropped below 10psi. For reference....
You should have 10psi for every 1000rpm. THats Ivan spec. Nissan spec is more than 10psi at idle 60-70psi at 3000rpm no load. Damn shitty KA's.

Re: a moment of silence please
I doubt you bent a rod. They're hella strong. You didn't detonate. You prolly just spun a bearing.

Re: a moment of silence please
Yes, but most of the time, if your oil pressure gets low, it is because of low oil level. Is it not?
