2g Eclipse projectors???

hey does anyone have porjector headlights on their 2g car? i want to get something that stands out from other DSM's in my area. so i thought of projectors. the headlight is a direct OEM replacement, but what about the wiring? will the higher power bulbs fry my wiring harness? any help is much appreciated...

Re: 2g Eclipse projectors???

projectors use different bulbs (H3's in mine) but plug into the stock harnesses. they won't hurt the harnesses at all. the headlight itself is a direct replacement

The projector and HID thing is complicated, and expensive when done right. This is a good starter tutorial: http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html

A few problems (when things are done wrong): Fitment sucks, some require you to splice into the stock harness, they seal poorly and water leaks in, the halo style have halos that burn out, light output is inferior to stock, you can throw light in the eyes of oncoming traffic, the light dispersion sucks, etc.

The solution: Not buying E-Bay crap, but retrofitting.

Put real projectors in with german bulbs. Get ballasts, and think about real housings. Or consider jacking everything from a BMW, etc. Going cheap gets problems.

Re: 2g Eclipse projectors???

I just thought I'd post some pics of when i was installing my halo lights, which are the same as TreeFrogs, but dark housings instead of chrome.

I had actually done these when I was sending emails back and forth to the sellers telling them that their lights were NOT plug and play and I had to do some work... they STILL didnt get it after 10 emails back and forth, lol. :

Re: 2g Eclipse projectors???

Here's a picture of my projectors...I used some silicone on the sealing before I installed them so that they wouldn't get water into them...

Re: 2g Eclipse projectors???

I love my projectors, no one around my area has any like em. But, like Shpyder explained with his diagram, ya gotta do some slicing and dicing. I actually wired mine up to have all my lights on as my brights. Add some aftermarket bulbs and they can be plenty too bright.

Man, I love the way your talon looks. The talon front kit is really awesome; it has a subtle, semi-blitz look to it, and is actually a worthy upgrade for 2G eclipses IMO. I just got that urethane lip I've ben raving on for eons, hopefully I'll get it installed soon and have some pics up.

Have your halo rings stopped working yet? Any condensation issues?

Also, you must ahve noticed that the stock bulbs will not fit into these projectors...instead, they come with their own small little wedge-style bulbs, without holders... what are they called? I'm looking for hyper whites in the same fitment.

Re: 2g Eclipse projectors???

I've had my headlights since this winter when it was all redone, and so far my halos still work fine... As for the condensation, I only had one day where I noticed a slight amount early in the morning... Mine didn't even come with new bulbs, I had to search to find the right ones. I'll check it out tomorrow and post up the bulbs that ya need for it.

Re: 2g Eclipse projectors???

Ok, I just looked up my bulbs... I put H1 Nokya's in my headlights. They are 100watt stage 2 bulbs... I'm not really sure what the difference is between the stages, but it says they are "Artic White." Which they are extremly bright white, but I notice a bit of a blue tint to them... Anyways, they are expensive but great bulbs...

Re: 2g Eclipse projectors???

Are they blue enough to cause the "mighty donut eaters" to gimme a ticket? Or just a slight hint of blue?

Can one of you put some pics up of the light pattern on the ground, the cut off lines, and the light output? I really want to get some projectors but I want to make sure I'm not loosing light output compared to OEM. If the light output sucks too much maybe I'll wait untill I get some more money so I can do a real projector swap.
