Conversion Van Dome Lt Override

I have a 1996 Astro Mark III conversion van. Sometimes I drive with the door open or I may just sit with the sliding door or cargo doors open. I do not want my interior lights to stay on but the dome override button under the headlamp switch does not turn off my interior lights. It only turns off the step lights on the rocker of the sliding door. Is there a way to turn off my interior lights when I have the door open?
