VH45DE swap....parts and where
Alright, I've seen a couple of threads on the VH45DE swaps, but none of them have answered my questions. So here goes.... First where do you get a VH45DE? and how much do they cost? What engine mounts does it require? What transmission do you use? And I heard about getting a ton more power from VK45DE heads, where do you get those? I've got a 280ZX right now, but am selling it and getting a 300ZX. I can do all the labor, so I just need parts prices. I'm lookin to show the domestics around here some import muscle, so help me out.

you can search in wrecking yards inventories for the motor ECU and stuff...also, most japanese importers can get a VH motor for you from a JDM car but it will be a special request. same with the VK heads... for the shops name and info. which i forgot...Private Message 'ZGringo' he knows more about this swap than probably anyone...

First, I can get the engine, transmission, ECU and wiring harness for $1,495. The VK heads you'll have to hunt them down. I got mine from Nissan.
You can buy the engine mounts, but the transmission mount remains the the same as does the driveshaft. Depending on what you want well determine what you'll need. You can use the stock exhaust manifolds if you stay N/A. |

Re: VH45DE swap....parts and where
try to get a skyline rb20 instead... silvertop's from the later r32's have 215 hp compared to the 170/190 of the 200zr's... as for the rest of the stuff, i'm not sure how different it is... but you'll probably want to try and get the electronics from a skyline and the rest of the stuff from the 200zr...

Yea, I just got another VH45DE from him. As for you other engine swap, ask RedNeck393 first hand why his car is so fast with a few mods and a turbo system he can adjust on the fly.

very interested
I would like to do this swap. I have the car (engines blown) It's a NA coupe with 5spd trans. I have been reading and searching about this on Hybridz etc. Zgringo everyone recommends you. But where to get the parts are very vague. I work at a dealership so the engine etc is easy. I mean like adapter plate what to do for mounts etc is what is baffling me. Do I have to get a TT trans or will my NA trans work. who would make the adapter plate. All help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would recommend getting a complete engine, trans, wiring harness and ecu, then building to whatever state you want to go. These are the people to get ahold of: http://speedlinegroup.com/ For the engine mounts, transmission adaptor for 5 speed, oil pan and the rest of the goodies contact this guy: http://www.freewebs.com/axepower/ Slim Dub 678-698-7426 As for racing cams, valve springs, pistons, rods, ARP fasteners and such to make it a go real fast car, eMail me at [email protected] and I'll send you to a suppler and help you with what you need. |

Re: Re: very interested
Thanks for the info. I was only thinking of going as far as maybe vk45de heads. If I kept the auto from speedlinegroup what would you recommend doing to tranny for a daily or weekend driver with good power. I don't plan to drag race but maybe some stop light or quick freeway romping. I would rather go the AT route. Also I see you listed IPT trans they have all these services listed but I wouldn't want to go overkill

Using the VK45 heads a good exhaust and intake well net you about 400HP.
As for the automatic, the VH45 uses the same transmission as the Z32TT. Use the VH45 bell housing and the Z32TT automatic and your home free. No drive shaft or transmission mount to worry about. If you install a HKS ALC that should help alot for life of the transmission. As for the IPT route, it's kinda pricy, but you'll never blow your trans. |

Re: VH45DE swap....parts and where
I will call some of those numbers to see what kind of budget I am looking at so I can plan out the install, like which parts to get first etc. Zgringo you are very helpful. I am just asking so many questions because usually like a at-mt swap there is a full write up. I know i can do the job but I just need some guidance. I am a parts guy so also i like to know exactly what i need in parts. I have been in and seen too many jobs come to a halt just because you have the wrong or not enough parts. I just hate to get all into it and can't get a special part. Because one thing I know is that I can't machine anything so I can't make a custom pan or etc.

There are many plus factors in favor of doing a VH45DE swap instead of a TT swap.
The VH-VK45DE is still in production were as the VG30DETT is out of production and as time go's by will become harded and more expensive to get. The VH-VK45DE base engine has more HP and torque than VG30DETT and with nothing more than a good free flowing exhaust and good cold air intake will make 400+HP. The VVH-VK45DE engine is N/A where as the VG30DETT is turbo'ed and well have longer life and no expense that goes with turbo's. With the weight of the Z32 and the torque the VH-VK45DE has, performance well be higher plus gas milage well also increase. With the classic style of the Z32 with a modern V8 you'll have one of the best cars in the world and able to keep up with the best of them with a N/A powered car. And for those who aren't happy with a rocket, you can always turbo or supercharge it and enter the warp area and run with the super hi-speed exotic's only few people ever have the chance to experiance. |

Re: VH45DE swap....parts and where
hello all i know i'm not in the aera much but i've herd of this swap and seen some few zs with the swap and i must say this is SICK. So if u were going the at to at route all i would need is the engine, ecu etc and the mouts? And a Z32TT correct? mesa thinking the camaro might be giong back to momma.
