Question New Tires for 2002 CR-V

I Plan to replace tires on my 2002 CR-V EX. Right now it 205/70/15. Is it possible to replace them with 16" tires on the existing rims. What would be the impact on odometer/speedometer? Experts please give your advise.
Thanks.

Re: New Tires for 2002 CR-V

No not possible to put a 16" tire on an existing 15" rim.

Just so you understand what the numbers mean.205/70/15. the 15 is the rim size, the 70 is the side wall hiegth and the 205 is the thread width. So to put a 16 inch tire on the stock rim is impossible. But you could change the tires and rims together and then put a 16 inch tire on the car.

Thanks for the reply lorunner.
Now if I put a 16" rim and tire, will I have to adjust the odometer settings. As I understand, the tire radius will change and might affect the reading on the speedometer.

Re: New Tires for 2002 CR-V

You can get a tire that is equal to the stock size in a 16 inch. Then you won't have to worry about the odometer. A 215/60/16 should be equal in hieght to the stock 205/70/15. You can go to http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_garage/Garage.jsp and put in 2002 crv and select different wheel sizes and they will give you the recommended size that will work.
