My hks bov & check engine light

Hey all if u guys didnt know i just installed my HKS SQV bov last week and its awesome. Only prob is that check engine light comes on once a while so i reset the ecu by unpluging + battery. The CEL dont pop up as often since i screw the nut(on bov) a little more everytime CEL comes on. Now today is a little wierd because i dont know if my tires blew out some rubber and smoked or was it coming from my exhuast. It was at a red light and i made a right turn, i didnt rev or nothing i just went normal and smashed it on first gear (still turning) and looked at my dash.. BAM the CEL comes on and i looked at my side mirror and saw smoke but DIDNT hear any tire screech. i was around 5500rpm and this happend fast so i dont know what just happend here. After that i went to gas station and filled up 91 premium gas and reseted the ecu again. After that i took the car for a harder ride and took it to 6500rpm on first gear going on and on. No CEL. Can u guys explained what happend here? I know the first thing u guys have in mind is: Recirculate your BOV! but too bad i gave my 1st gen bov to my friend. i dont wanna recirculate anymore haha.

i have one word for you...RECIRCULATE!

you need to otherwise the a/f will not be correct and that might be why it's throwing your CEL.

gthompson97 lol thanks man that does solve it but yeah i know it already. CEL stops coming on after u vent it more often. This is wierd, probably because the ECU learns how? lol

You will not get your car running as it should with a stock MAF and a non recirced BOV.

The CEL hasnt came on yet and ive been running it hard lately. Il update this if it does throw the CEL again. Obviously i know recirculate it is the answer but i wanna see what happens to my car if i dont ahah. I know im hard headed like that and im sorry. heh

Ghetto-rig a recirulation pipe for the ssqbov. I remember seeing a thread on here a while ago from someone who did it.

I'll like to know what that code is for, sounds more that just a bov to me.
I have a vented HKS I never had all that drama.

HKS do have a recirculation fitting for it, I got one on ebay for like $15 awhile back

How much different does it sound when you recirculate the ssqbov?
Seeing that there is a recirulation kit made specifically for the bov, this really makes me think about getting the hks.

I heard its quite gay. lol yeah it will sound no less of a difference than the 1g-2g dsm bov. The stock tube adapter that came on the hks bov makes a squeeling noise, but if u put on recirculation tube, u will have to take that adapter/face off.

Hmmm... thats crap lol. Does anyone have sound clips of a type s recirculated? I have yet to find one anywhere! And since you said that the hks sounds shitty recirculated, next best is the type s.

it just sounds like a gush or air, nothing special.
the fin is what give the HKS its unique sounds, with the recirculation fitting you have to lose the fin.
