Re: odometer?

if it's the counter inside the gauge cluster it cannot be fixed.

uhhh, maybe I'm the only one thinkin this, but why do you care? The miles have stopped counting on your car. Figure out how to get it fixed, but don't do it until you need to sell it/trade it in. That's what I'd do. The person who gets the car after you will have no idea, and if they do figure it out somehow, who cares they should have done a CarFax before they bought it.

Re: odometer?

^^^ because that's blatant lying?

I'd be pretty pissed if I bought a car thinking it was driven much less than it actually was. I would think that's illegal somehow.

Re: odometer?

It's not hard to fix. I had the same problem when I bought the car. It turns out one of the gears on the od was broken, so it would get to that number and stop. Take apart the cluster, and take apart the actual od. Careful not to lose any parts.

Pull out the gears, and try to find one with broken teeth/tooth. Move that one all the way to the left, so it'll be awhile before you have a problem with it again. It takes time, so be patient. Put it back together and tests to see if it works. It could take a couple trys. You also might want to add a few miles, depending on how much the car was driven without the od working. If you decide to do it, Ill help you more.

And yes, that is illegal.
