Question 98 grand am fuel filter?

does anyone know where it's located and if so do i have to do anything special if i replace it?

Teez,
Most of the fuel filters are located under the car behind the gas tank. You will most likely need a special tool to replace the filter. Both the filter and the special tool can be picked up at a parts store.

thanx for the quick reply i appreciate it greatly and the input is useful too. any idea on how big of a pain they are to replace? or should i just bite the bullet and pay the labor fees?

It should not be too difficult, just remember that you will probably get some gas squirting out of the lines. Make sure you have rags and protect your eyes. I would look over the set up before you begin and plan your steps so you leak as little fuel as possible. I probably have made it sound worse than it is but when you are messing with gas you have to take caution. Look at it this way, you might as well learn how to do it yourself, it will need changed again at some point.

Awhile back, someone had a neat link showing the whole filter and lines, try a search, it may help out.
