i have a 94 aclipse with a 1.8L engine i recently did an auot to manual transmission swap and didnt get some of the engine to transmission bolts tight so when i pushed in on the cluth it was pulling the transmision away from the engine instead of engaging the clutch and in the process it made my flywheel hit my starter and grind away at the teeth a little and now that i replaced the bolts my car wont start. you can hear the starter spin but it isnt engaging into the flywheel so do u think it is just the teeth on the starter of the teeth on the flywheel? and if i take my starter to get rebuilt will they replace the gear on the end of the starter ? any advice on this would be greatly aprciated thanks in advance

Re: need starter help
Well you basically answered your own question. Yes take your old starter to a re-built shop, they will give you a re-built one and keep yours (this is how it usually works). Unless your starter is to messed up for rebuild, they should give you some credit for it. I have about 6 of them in my garage but you live to far.

Re: need starter help
you better hope that you took the teeth off of the starter and not the flywheel if that's the case, otherwise you're looking at pulling the motor or tranny out and replacing it with a different one. you NEED to make sure all of the bolts are tight. you could royally fuck up something if they aren't all tight.
