6" Speakers.

My firebird has a 6" speaker in both doors and blew one of them. now i need a 6" speaker that will replace the one i blew. i dont want to spend alot of money on these. but enough to get me a good sound. My firebird has a Monsoon system in it, so i need one that can handle loud volumes. anyone got any sugestions?

Re: 6" Speakers.

What RMS values are you talking about? Just about any aftermarket speaker will handle anything a deck or even a small amp will send to it without distorting.

You probably won't find a good match for your remaining speaker, so it's best to buy a pair. If you wanna go really inexpensive, crutchfield has some really nice looking Blaunkports for $50 with all the mounting hardware you could need, and then some.

You may not be able to find a pure 6" speaker either... most come as 5.25" or 6.5". Crutchfield will provide plastic adapter mounts for you if necessary.

What's "alot of money" to you, btw? I'd like a budget to work with.

Re: 6" Speakers.

your right, they might be 5.25" or 6.5". i couldnt really get a accurate measurment because i couldnt figure out how to get the door panels off to get the speaker out. Once i get the door panel and speakers out, i'll be able to measure it and give you alittle more information.

are those crutchfield speakers any good? cause i dont wanna buy something and have them blow in a few days. i would like to get a pair of speakers for between 0-75ish$. But if i can get a GREAT pair of speakers for maybe $100, i'll go for it.

Re: 6" Speakers.

Send an email to Don at Island Sound ([email protected]) and tell him how much you want to spend. He's an authorized CDT dealer and can hook you up with some really nice CDTs with warrenties for probably $100 shipped. If he's got some component sets, I'd go for those. He'll probably have some good coaxials as well, but they won't sound quite as good as the components.

Noah (I think that's NGSM13's real name) likes to take all the credit for recommending him, so mention him if you want.

PS, here's how to measure speakers (I screwed up the first time)...

That's a 5.25" speaker.

Here's a 4" speaker:

You should be able to tell that you measure from the middle of the surround (the part the flexes as the cone moves in and out).

Good luck!

Re: 6" Speakers.

Look up a guy on Ebay names selzitall. He usually has Pioneer closeouts on there. I usually can bid for a nice pair for around $24-$33!
