we are working on my roomates jeep right now and we have a problem. he installed an alpine cd player, and the subwoofer will not work when cd is in. it works when it is just on the tuner, and it worked with the factory cd player. please any info will be appreciated

Is the new cd player actually new or is it used? It sounds fishy to me. The sub should not have any idea what's being played like if it is either the radio or whatever.

My guess would be that the amp is not getting a/c power when the cd player is turned on. I'm sure the amp has a constant 12-volt source, but it's probably getting turned off when the cd player is turned on. Does the amp have a power light on it? Check to see if it has power when the cd player is turned on.
