Oil Pressure
Im still having problems with my oil pressure gauge. I know its the wiring (I think). What I have is the gauge all hooked up: + and - are going to the cigarette lighter. The sender is installed and the wire going from there goes straight to the gauge. Now, when I turn the car on, the gauge goes to 0psi. When I turn the car off, it still sits at 0psi until the wire from the sender gets disconneted. (It's a split wire, so that's how I know). The it goes down to the full off position. I tried taking the split wire from the sender and grounding it to the chasis, but then it shoots past 100psi, and never comes back down. It also goes up there when the engine is off, but electrical is on. Any ideas? Do I need to ground the sender to the block or something?

Re: Oil Pressure
you wired the light to the cig, ran a ground from the gauge to the frame/body, and wired the power wire from the gauge to the ignition under your stearing wheel??

Re: Oil Pressure
The light and power to gauge are kinda in the same deal. There's alittle black box unit that allows the light to turn on. That's wired to the cig light, which also supplies the gauge power. I have the same setup with all my gauges.
Right now there is no ground coming from th sender unit. It just goes straight to the gauge sender terminal.

Re: Oil Pressure
In some cases the sender doesnt get grounded well. With my sender remote mounted, it was easy to ground (and even more important to do it). I just put a hose clamp around the metal body with a wire under it, then ran that wire to a ground bolt. Not sure if this will fix your problem, but its worth doing anyway.

Re: Oil Pressure
It turns out that I hooked it up tot the wrong place. The post that titled "Does anyone have a Haynes manual" showed me that I hooked it up to the knock sensor, not the OP. Im working on that now. Thanks tho.
