Grand Am remote programming

I was going to purchase a remote for my car, the lock/unlock remote it has listed 3 series of numbers. The car is a 2002 Grand Am 4 door
GM 16263074-99

FCC ID: L2C0005T

CANADA: 26861021384

im dont kow where to match these up to my car to make sure the remote will work.

then afterthat i will need to program it. Can that be done without a scanner?

Thanks
M

Re: Grand Am remote programming

Does your car have a remote system in it already? Are you just replacing a fob?

What year is your car?

Re: Grand Am remote programming

The 3 numbers that you have listed should be:

1st number should be the GM part number.
2nd number should be the Federal Communications Number
3rd number I am assuming is a Canadian Registration number od some type (I'm not in Canada)

Any way if the car had the remote system but you do not have the remote fob you can simply purchase one or two and re-program them yourself. If you look at the thread posted by Flatrater ( 3rd or 4th from the top on the opening Grand Am Forum list) he has provided the steps for re-programming the fobs.
You do not need to "match" to your particular car. If you go to a dealer they should be able to provide the fob style that was used in 2002.

Hope this Info helps.

You will need a scanner to set the fob after 1999. it will earse the old one and you can have up to four programed at once.
