ABS Problem on '97 Cavalier

I have a '97 Cavalier which is the third vehicle in our family and therefore gets little use. The car recently started engaging the ABS while you applying the brakes at a certain speed - around 10mph and then stops as the vehicle comes to a stop which, I guessing, is a sensor problem. Does anyone have experience as to how much cost is involved in repairing this or is it possible to simply disconnect the ABS on this vehicle?

Thanks a bunch.

Re: ABS Problem on '97 Cavalier

try just unpluging the battery for a while and disconnect the fuse for the abs system....then put it back in and connect the battery...or you could replace the abs fuse altogether
