light beside gear when parking

hi all

i have this small problem, when i lock my car for a day and come back, i noticed that the light beside gear P, is still on, i dont know what this thing is related to, is it a fuse or somthing plz help...

I have the same thing with my 97 528i...it does not matter ifd it's 1min,1hr or 1 day...when the car is parked,turned off and the key removed the little light beside the gear selector stays on...i think that it was how it was designed but i could be wrong.

Also, how did your problem with the outside temp sensor work out? Was it missing?Loose?Faulty?Did you have the problem corrected?

thnkx for your reply, no for my outside temp sensor i didnt know how to find it, i need a pic if you have, cause i think its missing...
