making a shorter shifter...
I have a B&M short throw shifter, currently set at 50%. i've had it for a long time...anyway the actual height of the shifter is still too tall. would any of you recommend me taking a hacksaw to it? i really want it to be shorter, but the damn thing cost me like $170. so i really don't want to permanately fuck it up....i was thinking about cutting a small section out of it, and then welding the threaded part back onto it.....or cutting it, then thread it myself....or just cut it and get an aftermarket shift knob. anyone think i should do this?

Re: making a shorter shifter...
I took the center consol out, put the shift knob back on and marked right where the bottom of the shift knob was on the shifter... Cut it off with a Sawzall and cut it even where the shifter mounts (bolts on) and welded the threaded part back on. I tig welded it so no matter what it should break.

Re: making a shorter shifter...
when you cut it down the distance you have to move your hand when shifting gets shorter too...

I wouldnt feel comfortable wth it being cut and welded, I'd be afraid it would break. If you cut it though, you should put it at 35%. I thought any more than that was bad even when it's not cut, read that a long time ago.
