Finished: Revell 1/25 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
This is a reissue of the Revell's 1/25 scale Jaguar XKE Roadster. Originally, it was the Aurora tool. The kit is highly detailed, but extremely challenging to build because the mold is so old.
As far as I remember, I bought the kit more than 10 years ago when Revell reissue it, and I just finished 100% of the planned upgrading jobs. The model is built to represent the Jaguar E-type (UK version circa 1964 before the seatbelt became mandatory). You don't get to see a completed Revell XKE kit very often, so enjoy. ![]() ![]() ![]() The bonnet of the kit is hinged, and I didn't have to modify it at all. ![]() ![]() Interior is mildly detailed with additional bits and pieces of styrene. ![]() ![]() The most common way to upgrade wheels is to use photoetched parts, but we know they aren't really accurate. The only way to solve the problem is to lace it yourself, and here's my result. It took me five attempts to feel comfortable with my work, then I made a set of four, making a total of nine! ![]() The steering rack is completely scratchbuilt. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some of the scratchbuilt parts include the SU carburetters, throttle link-bars, brake and clutch muster cylinders, brake servo, reservoir tanks and fuel filter. ![]()

That's great!
Nice to see some odd models here ! Love these old Jags. Is the rear suspension also detailed?

Hey,
Are the windscreen wipers pe? Great job! The kit is pretty good, considering its origional relase date. Keep up the awsome work! Frank X. |

A very lovely example of "aerodynamicist" Malcom Sayer's most breathtaking creation.
Although I would like to point out that the SSP series reissued Jaguar XK-E roadster was in fact a 1963 Revell tool, not the Aurora tool. Revell reissued the Aurora Jaguar XK-E hardtop in that series of kits, and it's much more simplified than the Revell roadster. The easiest way to tell is in the tires. All of the Aurora sports car kits (save for the Chapparal 2A and Porsche 904GTS) had no-name skinny tires with white styrene inserts for white walls. The Revell Jag has Revell's sports car series Dunlop tires that also were frequently used as front tires in their dragster kits.

I love the attention to detail. And the final outcome shows it!
