Carpeting

Anyone know if it's feasable or even possible to use 1 inch deep house carpeting in my car? How would I fix it to the floor?

From what I know, car carpeting comes pre-formed. So, basically it just sits there, pre-fit, held on by door sills, seats, and things like that. I suppose you could try it, but it might take some work. I don't imagine it would be easy to stretch and shape.

I would suggest looking on the internet for some new carpet. It'll usually run around 150-200, and I'm sure you could find some that's somewhat thick (if that's what you're looking for). I've never installed any, but it seems pretty basic...take out the seats and anything else holding it in place, remove the old carpet, drop in the new mold, replace seats etc...

No, House carpet won't work, the backing is too stiff to fit right and it won't stretch like it is supposed to. If you get a molded carpet, you don't need to glue it down. If you buy a unformed carpet, you can use 3M Trim Adhesive available at most auto parts stores.

Try looking up Auto Custom Carpets if your searching for new carpet for your car if you need stock replacement that's formed for your car, which you don't have to glue in.

Well, I don't need a new carpet, I just wanted some really thick stuff.

Actually, I kind of need a new carpet, the one I have now is a little worn and has some large white stuck together patches from road salt on feet. But I have other things to do with my money right now.
