Off topic post: Hip-hop/Rap responisble for violence?

Doing a paper for a class and I just wanna get a survey so I can include it in there. Do you feel that rap/hip-hop is responsible for causing violence, crime, and drug abuse?

I think it is, but it's not the fault of the artists, it's just people who are violent because of rap or movies or video games or anything like that are just fucking stupid to begin with and should be locked up in a mental institution.

i think it promotes them somewhat by either glorifying them or making it seem like common everyday shit so its no big deal to people. i do think the main factors are the persons living situation and mental stability or whatever but when it is so commonplace in music i think you can argue that it does work its way into people's mindsets that its ok to do it. probably just as much if not less than violence in movies and tv though.

Iv got some friends from the streets, and my god they make it sound like having a gun is like us suburban boys carrying a wallet. Iv rolled with them, inner city life is way different. No, i dont think rap is responsible. Human nature is resoponsible. Killing, violence, drugs, were being abused and done waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before rap came. Gangster rap came when, late 80's. Rap is relatively young. Iv been listening to rap all my life, and actually its not as violent as it used to be in my opinion. Listen to the ghetto boys, they are the most violent iv heard. Yea but gangs and what we are talking about are two different issues. Gang violence is never blamed on rap music.

This is like Johnny Jones killing the bully at school and saying snoop dog said to do it.(hypothetical situation here!!!). The kid should be asked which hand he did it with. He'll show the judge which hand. Then the judge should grab his hand and chop that bitch off. Then he can go to school and show all his friends what happens when you shoot people for unjustified reasons. Then you can envoke "three strikes and your out". are you joking. We have the death penalty....name other countries that promote that. And yea some countries just blast folks for heck of it......arabians and what not, but thats just police being corrupt. And 15-20 years is a loooooooong time. I think if someone kills someone they should be killed too, but not by lethal injection....they need something that makes them actually suffer. like burned alive or crucified. Or crushed by stones. Or dragged from a truck. Or we use the convicts to test out new products and anti biotics for aids and other huge diseases. I mean if ther going to die they might as well die trying to make something for the better. But i also beleive that doing some amount of time, a con can change. I mean if a con spends 50 years in prison....he will definantly be a different man than what he was when he entered. He has been kept from society. He will either A. kill himself because he wont be able to live on his own in the current times. B. Become a good citizen C. go right back in....because thats all he knows is prison life. But iv met people that have been in prison for 7+ years and you wouldnt even be able to tell. There good people, and can teach you alot. Not saying all prisoners are good people, but some have a story to tell. Most the time it depends on how you were brought up, and where you lived, and the conditions of your living quarters. Sometimes violence is the only way to survive depending on where you are. It all comes down to how strongly minded someone is i think. Has anyone ever gotten so mad that they "lose" control of themself? I have, you go crazy until you calm down and annaylize the situation. Im 130 lbs. I once lifted my dad up (200 pounder) and threw him into a wall head first over my back(like jackie chan or someshit)....left a head size hole in the wall. I went crazy, lost control, cuz i was so pissed. Its like a different mind state. My dad just let me be until i the "steam" naturally disappears, like its an adrenaline over dose or something lol. THats prolly how people in war are all the time, thats why they come back all screwed up.
