dirt oval track racing

theres a local race track here in St Helens oregon that runs a 4 cyl class. Looks like a TON of fun. Its a 1/4 mile dirt oval track. The cars are mostly old 70s celica datsun 510s and every other junker 4cyl car from way back when. My buddy races in this class and is trying to convince me to rip apart my old honda and turn it onto a race car. My car is a 91 civic that just collects dust in on the side of my house. Basically all i have to do to race is weld in a roll cage, strip the interior- windows- lights, weld shut the doors, and weld the seat down. Has anyone here ever raced their honda like this. how well do you think a little civic would do, the track is a little slippery and the corners get a little rough with it being a dirt track and all. what do you all think????

I've had my civic on a 1/2 mile paved oval and I say FWD really sux for that. On dirt it may be easier to slide around a bit more, but still fun.

Re: dirt oval track racing

I personally haven't but at my local track they do the same, and the crx's haul ass in the straights but loose out a lil bit in the corners, could be the drivers though... the cars that win the most there are the friggen neons!

Re: dirt oval track racing

crx is fun on dirt roads... well, unless it's lower than you used to ride on them and your passenger weighs over 250lbs and every whoopty do makes your chassis touch ground like my car did a couple days ago... ugh!

If it's like the same class they run around here, the car has to 100% stock. They even specify the tire size.
