switching blocks

have a quick question about 95 ga want to change out block but only quad I can find is out of an older olds. once I do this should I continue using the pontiac timing chain or should I go with the olds. Heard that switching chains from one year to the next could cause major valve damage. All help appreciated.

Re: switching blocks

U heard right, certain quad 4's must have a SPECIFIC chain for the engine, no swapping. Are you just swapping out the lower end? and keeping the upper end from the original engine?

I suggest see if someone else posts before ya try this, as there can be certain prob.'s in the matching up. what year Olds short block?
