[In progress] Lotus Super 7

Hi there, that's my second model I show here, it's 1/24 Tamiya Lotus Super 7.

The progress on my models is a little bit slow , but decided to show it here to have some motivation and get to know your opinion. So here it is, not much done yet...

I decided to do some modifications, first of all I cut oryginal ugly fenders and I made cycle fenders, something a'la Caterham. There is only one fender at the picture, because it's only test-fitted and I had problems to fit and hold it all without glueing .

The model is very small comparing to other 1/24 scale models. So the wheels are small too. In my country there isn't any place where I can buy wheels so they had to stay stock...

I wanted this Lotus to be a little "racing" style so I made from scratch the rollbar on the back and those ugly seats.. first time scratchbuilding, not very proud of them .

Filled with putty and sanded some stock "holes":

So here is what I've done so far. The color will be Tamiya's Darck Mica Blue, I'll paint the stock wheels silver and black in the middle. Interior will be propably black (have to hide "ugliess" of the seats ).

How did you make those cycle fenders? Those look awesome! Very good work there. And your seats look fine, if you smooth the contours with putty and the edges with a file, they will look fantastic! This is a very promising build!

Fenders were made out of pieces of metal plate glued together (to have some thickness, they were very thin), curved to the shape of wheel, and then sanded on the edges with a "mini-drill". Hope you can understand my description, my English isn't very well . It's a bit tricky way to do them, but I haven't any sheets of styrene, so had to do them other way.

I'll think about those seats. I left them as they are now, because I was afraid I'll broke them or something and have to do them once more time . Because of that I left the second part of the seat stock, if my my seats didn't come out good I could go back with stock, but ugly "sofa" .

Thanks for comments.

Sorry, but I've got no pics actually, I had to lend my camera for about a week, eh..
It's a Cosworth engine.
