1994 Ford Explorer - No Ignition
I have a 1994 Ford Explorer XLT (4.0L V6) with 200,000 miles. It has been a very reliable vehicle until recently. Presently, when I turn the key for a cold start, the engine cranks but it does not seem have any ignition or "fire".
When the key is in the "on" position, I can hear the fuel pump run as expected. In checking for ignition, I removed one of the spark plugs and laid it on the exhaust manifold. I had someone crank the engine and did not observe any spark. I am not sure how to troubleshoot the problem from here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. A few months ago, I had a problem with the engine shutting down while driving. I replaced the coil and that seemed to fix that problem. However, now the car won't start at all. Engine cranks but does not seem to have ignition or "fire". Last edited by Luvcars; 05-15-2005 at 02:32 PM. |

Re: 1994 Ford Explorer Won't Start
check for spark and you might want to consider changing the crank sensor. Good luck
