Re: clicking noise in engine

How many miles are on the engine? My guess would be a lubrication problem but that is pretty rare on a new engine.

Re: clicking noise in engine

take a long screw driver and hold the handle end on your ear and probe around the engine with the tip and you should be able to hear where the knocking sound is loudest. If it knocks the loudest when you rev it up and down, and is quiet under a constant RPM it could a rod bearing. If it's just a little tap it could be in the valvetrain. Hook up a timing light and try to determine if it knocks on every flash or every other flash. If you can tell you'll know if it's the valvetrain-everyother flash, or the bottom end-every flash. Hope this helps

Re: clicking noise in engine

That depends on how severe the problem is and whether or not you want the car to work for a while yet, you could be doing some serious damage.

I had the same problem, the sound dont come all the time and I have had this before, on mine the flex plate was cracked, It sounds just like the engine it knocking, auto transmission, take off the inspection cover that covers the flywheel (flexplate) get a light and a screwdriver and move the flywheel and look real close to the center of it, it can be very small but it make a very load noise. Hope this helps, its only about a $50 repair if you do it yourself,
