Finally a new turbo

I finally got my tax return, and some rebates from an old computer I bought, so I am going to finally get a new turbo.

I was looking at a few 16G's, but read those take too long to spool up. I really don't want to get a turbo that sucks at spooling up..

I noticed a lot of EvoIII 16g's..what's the deal with those..

I have about 1300 to work with ...a little bit more if needed for a new turbo.

( I am getting a FM and new piping and shit don't worry)

I just need to know what turbo is "the best"...I know 20G would be phenom...but I'm sure that takes too long to work...thad be for a damn semi or something.

Let me know what to do because I can't find any resources that help me with this.

Peace

Re: Finally a new turbo

The next person that I hear say a 16g lags is going to get donkey punched. I have one on the 2g now, and as soon as I think about maybe pushing the gas pedal in a smidgeon, hey presto, I have boost. DBS.

There are very few turbos that spool faster than a 16g but move more air than stock anyway. So I dont know what these people are suggesting you use instead.

Re: Finally a new turbo

Exactly!!! When I had my car running perfect with my Evo III 16g there was pretty much no lag at all. I also had cams so that helped it a lot, I could get 20psi by 2800rpms. How is that lag? When I think of lag it reminds me of the 4500rpm spool time I have now with the new turbo. If people are whining about a 16g, I hate to see what happens when they go bigger!

Re: Finally a new turbo

The evo316g is the biggest 16g turbo. I think

Re: Finally a new turbo

Use the search function to do research and then ask more direct questions.

Like Kevin says, the 16g is not a slow-spooling turbo. The evo16g has logged the highest flow rates of all the 16gs, but they all are capable of flowing within 5-6 lb./min. of each other.

Re: Finally a new turbo

And the prices arent all that different. In this case its worth the little extra money to get the more modern higher flowing turbo. SBRs website has a good comparison between the EVO3 and the Big 16Gs.
