1999 Camaro OBDI or OBDII?

Anyone know if my 99 is obd1 or 2 and the proper way to retrieve the error code? The missing and bucking have finally thrown an error code and I am anxious to see what it is. Thank You in advance.

a 99 sold in North America will be OBD11. If you live near an Autozone they will read them for free. Just ask for the raw numbers and politley ignore their recomendations.

Try to find some place to go other than autozone, they have a poor track record. Try to find a CSK or an Advance they both are decent autoparts places.

Where I live both will do free scanning as far as I know, I have gone to Checker and they do it for free. I can only assume that Advance would do it too, it's stupid of those places not to do it for free because if there is something wrong they will most likely get the sale to fix it.

Re: 1999 Camaro OBDI or OBDII?

I ended up taking the car to Autozone. They did a free scan and it came up cylinder 2 misfire. The number 2 wire must have got water inside it and corroded it up pretty badly. The boot came right off the wire! Spent 7.50 for a replacement wire and some sandpaper and BAM everything is awesome once again. Thank You all for your help and advice, it is much appreciated.

Re: 1999 Camaro OBDI or OBDII?

If that was the case I would look into changing all the wires and plugs pretty soon, if one of them was bad I wouldn't take my chances on the rest. Put in some good wires and plugs and then you can pretty much forget about them for 30,000 miles.
