Great news for Z owners with automatics

I've just recieved a eMail from ESS Racing saying the new SAW (Shift At Will) is ready for shipping. Now you can drive your cars just like the F-1 racers and have total control over your transmission.
Read about it here.

Re: Great news for Z owners with automatics

sweet deal man, i wonder if it actually works as well as the f1 gearbox.. i doubt it, but that's still freaking awesome... might even consider an automatic depending how well they work, would be sweet to go back and forth between auto and the paddle shift.. traffic's starting to get heavy around here, and sitting on an uphill slant for a half hour moving a few feet a minute isn't fun with a standard

either way that's pretty cool

I have the old one and it's great. The new one I should have installed in a few days. It works in the same manner as the F-1's, only has a full automatic mode. Works just like a standard 5 speed transmission, except shifts much faster, plus it turns your torque convertor into a high stall unit that can be locked up anytime you want. In other words you can lanch at any RPM you want without losing traction. Just like the AA/F dragsters.

I saw this kit a while back, I am glad they finally are getting it out, well the new one anyway. I plan on getting it in a few months after the ALC.

Hodo, don't get a HKS ALCII. I have one. The SAW kit has the hi-pressure mode built into it, only better, you can adjust it.

Re: Great news for Z owners with automatics

Al, any idea if this computer will work with the VH45/VK45 auto boxes? If not, is it possible to use the z32 auto tranny with the VH/VK series engines?

Cheers,
-Mike

Mike the VH45 uses the same transmissoin as the Z32 automatic. I don't have a VK so I'm not sure about it. I know they've gon to the new 5 speed automatics. I've been using the RE4R03A transmission in everything. That transmission is used in the trucks also.

Re: Great news for Z owners with automatics

oh holy shit mike, that's an awesome point, that'd be sweet to use for a vh/vk45de swap... i think driving a 5spd with that much power would be a little much to handle if you tried to drive it on the street... touché mike, touché
