location of aux light relay???

I have a 93 del sol si and am having trouble getting the aux. lights to work. After aquiring a fuse box diagram I have checked the #11 fuse and it is ok. The diagram states that this fuse powers the aux. light relay and I believe this is the next thing to check, if I could find it.

I should mention that the led on the switch comes on like it should but no lights.

anyone out there with a factory service manual who could give me the location of the aux. light relay???

Thanks

Re: location of aux light relay???

The relay is located on the inside of the driver's side fender just in front of the door. Remember to connect the SRS short connectors before disconnecting any part of the SRS wires so you don't accidently deploy the airbags. There's two short connectors - one in the little compartment just underneath the steering wheel (on the steering wheel itself) and one just above your glove box (have to move the glove box stops on either side so it will open all the way down and you can see it from there). The short connectors are little red clips.

Thanks I'll look for it. However it seems like the SRS short connectors are going to be easier to find and work with than the relay itself. I guess I should invest in a factory service manual and the electrical trouble shooting manual also.

Well I went out to the garage with alittle trepidation on my mind. The first step was to find the relay and I was thinking "how much stuff will I have to remove just to see it and are there more than one and what does it look like etc.)

My wife is a nurse and she brings home those little pocket lights which are very handy for looking in the dark places under the dash and such. So I opened the driver's door and layed down on the garage floor (under the dash on this car is a pain) to see what tools I would need. I turned the light on the area where you described the relay should be and found that Honda had put them right out in the open where you can get at them!!!!! OK Now which one would it be? Well there was only one that didn't have a plug in attached to it (could that be it??). Looking around, there was only one unattached plug. My mind was racing. I bet this is the plug for the relay, I told myself. I pluged it in and low and behold the lights work as they should. I walked away feeling like a master Honda mechanic.

Thanks for your help - even a simple thing like a unplugged plug can be a problem when you don't know where to look.

Thanks again
Jim

Re: location of aux light relay???

No sweat, man. Glad it was easy to get to. As for the Honda manual, they're not too terribly bad. It'll run about $80 but well worth the investment. I used mine to tell you where the relay was.
