Motor Swap

hey everybody, i just recently purchased a 98 Cavalier 2dr 5spd with the 2.2L engine in it...i kno i kno...slow POS...but its not that bad...its got enuff get up n go...for now.

i was just wondering, is the Z24 engine a direct swap for the car? also...what would be the best size piping for both motors? it wont be for a while until i am able to even think about doin this seriously...i am just curious

Re: Motor Swap

what i meant was engine and tranny both at the same time, but i think that answers my question...if i swap the z24 motor and trans at the same time it would be a direct swap?

yeah i'll probably have to do the wiring harness as well...and probably put a Z24 cluster in there...but are the mounts the same is basically what i'm asking, and if the exhuast follows the same path.

Re: Motor Swap

The intake/exhaust is flipped on the 2.4, so no the exhaust will not work. And you won't "probably" have to swap in the wiring, you just plain will.

Re: Motor Swap

ok a little exhaust modification to get it to fit right...does it bolt into the same mounts though or no?
